Nigel is organising one of his epic away day rides. We rode the route recently and i can guarantee that you won't be disappointed, despite the travel time to get there. It's really worth it.
It requires dry weather, so would be postponed for a week if wet.
Draft ride details are:
Ride Start from Rhayader Central Car Park at 10:00
Driving time from Cheltenham to Rhayader is approximately 2 hrs 15 mins
Riders shall organise their own transport to and from Rhayader
2 cafe stops on the ride route
Machynlleth after 50 km (31 miles) Y Gegin Fach Cafe
Devils Bridge after 90 (60 Miles) Woodland Tea Room.
Ride finish at Rhayader
All riders should be navigationally self-sufficient and should bring the ride route loaded on their cycle computer
Our reconnoitre ride took 5.5 hours and 7.5 hours elapsed time (with cafe and photo stops)
Total ride distance is 138 km (86 miles) with approximately 2500 metres of climbing.
