Dear club members,
It’s HONC time again!
We are well advanced in the planning of this year’s event based in the grounds of
Sudeley Castle again. As per the last recent editions, riders will be able to register and go anytime between 7.30am and 9.30am with a choice of 50k, 75k and 100k courses. This years event also has an optional extra 40k tacked on to the 100k route to make an ULTRA/XL route.
HONC VOLUNTEERS
Thanks to the fantastic volunteer support we receive from you, HONC is able to raise income for both Winchcombe and Cheltenham & County Cycling Clubs, as well as donating to a wide range of local and national charities/organisations such as, County Air Ambulance, WAM Youth, CFC and Cleeve Common Conservation last year totalling over £4000.
Cheltenham & County CC traditionally provides on course marshals on the day and in the lead up and sign half of the route. On the day we will need 20 static marshals for busy road junctions and some key points on the courses and 10 riding marshals for tail-ending and sign-collection. Due to the staggered rider start times we need to cover the route from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Normally we plan marshal shift times to be 1.5 to 2 hours in duration.
We have always received fantastic support from club members and we hope we can count on that help again this year. Please let us know if you can lend a hand on the day or in the lead up and the preferred role or roles you would like to take part in (static or riding) and also if am/pm shifts preferred.

Thanks to those who have already volunteered - David Tucker, Dave Wood, Roger Smith, Jane Charlton, Iain Holmes, Gordon Smillie, Nick Gay, Chris Booth, David Delves. We need a further 11 volunteers to help for a few hours on the day (1st September) to make this year's HONC another success. Last year over £9000 was raised and donated to good causes including CFC, Air Ambulance, WAM etc - really great causes and close to all our hearts. Please let us know that you're willing to help - it'll be a fun few hours out and you'll get to see many familiar faces either grinning or grimacing... Be great to see you there - please confirm asap via honc.cheltenham1@gmail.com and/or here!
