After some recent incidents and discussion on forums, a reminder for all. Club runs are no-drop rides.
Communication should come from the back if the pace is too high, and riders on the front should be regularly looking back to check on the group, and ensure everyone is together.
Always stop at the top of hills to regroup. Ease off at the bottom of hills to allow those less confident in descending to catch up.
There is also an onus on individuals to ride in the group that matches their ability. Feeling strong? Try stepping up a group, you can always drop back if it's too much. Having an off day? After informing the group, perhaps you could sit up and wait for the next group on the road.
Also we need to be self-sufficient with respect to mechanicals and the route if we are separated for whatever reason.
Spare a thought for the ride leaders. It's generally the same people every week that lead the groups, they're very good at it and they don't drop people on purpose. Perhaps you could lead a group one week and give them a week off. At it's simplest, look after each other.
