A big thanks to the C&CCC volunteers! Lots of time and effort is put in, most of which is behind the scenes, unnoticed and unrecognised. It takes a massive amount of effort from a committed and dedicated team to make everything happen - put events on, pull routes together, book cafes, organise trips, arrange socials etc etc. You make the club an awesome one. Thank you!
In our last committee meeting we reflected on the important role that everybody can play in helping volunteers feel good about the role that they play.
Too often recently, volunteers have seen their work in the limelight on social media when somebody decides to publicly air a criticism - a cafe, a route, a ride leader, a rider, and often it leads to others jumping on the theme. I guess all of us find it easy to pick holes in things, forgetting to say "well done" or "thank you" for the majority of the time when things go well.
We're open to feedback, both positive and negative. If there are opportunities to improve, just remember that you're feeding back on a volunteer's hard work. They want to hear negative feedback, but directly rather than publicly. If you want an improvement, better to take it offline/ privately - what do you stand to gain by advertising your disatisfaction to 400+ other fellow members? Is it demotivating the volunteer? Getting them to say "I'll just not bother?"
Please bear in mind the forum/group rules when you write a post - they are in place to try and keep things kind, constructive and on-topic!
Thanks all, and thanks to people who do this already :)
