This June, Gloucestershire County Council will be crowdsourcing a condition survey of cycle infrastructure with a mobile game — everyone can participate and earn money by taking part.
By taking part in the event, you have a great opportunity to cycle around the county for a good cause and earn money. All you need is a smartphone, a bicycle and a phone holder attached to the bike’s handlebars. The Crowdsorsa mobile game can be downloaded for free from App Store and Google Play.
Main idea of the survey is to collect virtual fruit and berries from Crowdsorsa’s map by recording video of the highlighted routes while riding. The video data is then analysed and this information will assist the council in understanding where improvements are needed on cycle infrastructure network. Users earn money for every collected object, approximately £2.50 per mile.
If the weather is clear, the survey will start at 10am on Thursday, 2 June. You can have a look at the survey instructions given in the Gloucestershire mission on Crowdsorsa app. Even more information can be found on Crowdsorsa’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/crowdsorsa) and website (www.crowdsorsa.com).
If needed, you can order the bike phone holder (https://crowdsorsa.com/product/phone-holder-for-bicycle/) from Crowdsorsa and — by using GLOS22 coupon at the checkout — collect it from Gloucestershire Bike Project with your receipt.

We can’t wait to see you at the UK’s first ever crowdsourced cycling route condition survey.
I've just had this come in:
Dear cycling clubs,
I am contacting you to inform you of a delay to Gloucestershire County Council’s cycle route survey, due to issues with the Crowdsorsa app.
Issues faced by the app developers have meant the app is not yet available to download.
The survey, which allows users to record footage of the cycle infrastructure in the county and collect virtual fruit worth money along the way, was due to take place on Thursday, 2 June.
I apologise for the inconvenience caused by this issue and the survey has been rescheduled for Saturday, 11 June and Sunday, 12 June. We will provide updates through our Facebook and Twitter channels when the app is available to download.
For more details on the survey, visit https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/gloucestershire-county-council-news/news-may-2022/gloucestershire-cyclists-to-be-paid-as-they-pedal-with-mobile-game/
Its from Gloucester County Council. I can share the covering note if you want to follow up directly?
Hi Bill. What is the source for this? I can’t find the app on either app store. Why GCC is not paying its own staff to do this is perplexing.
