Some of our rides seek out the quieter and less used roads. This may make them nicer to ride on but it increases the risk of poor road surfaces and gravel. If the road does seem of lower quality, leave more space between the rider in front and slow down, particularly downhill. Remember that riders on disc brakes can stop more quickly than those on rim brakes. Regardless of brake type, you need to brake before you hit the gravel, not on it. Also be aware that gravel can be washed on to any road after heavy rain.
