Big groups aren't good and good groups aren't big. We try to ride in groups of 10 or less when part of the club. As the group grows communication becomes harder, whether that's instruction from the ride leader not reaching all riders, pointing out hazards on the road, giving route directions, or letting the front riders know about mechanicals or people struggling at the back. We run the risk of antagonizing other road users, and we make it harder for ourselves to find a suitable gap in traffic.
Please help the ride leaders by splitting into smaller groups if there is a large number of riders of similar ability. Your ride will be better for it as well.
