This Saturday will be our first go at a gravel introduction session. It’s aimed at those who like the idea but are wary of committing to a full club ride plus anyone else who wants to develop their basic off road skills.
This time we’ll use the countryside between Leckhampton and Elkstone to look at various types of terrain, discuss the challenges and ways to tackle them. People can have several gos if required to get comfortable with it before moving on. We will have a few experienced gravel riders so can split the group if needed to better manage a range of confidence and experience.
There is a notional route taking in the Knead Bakery at Elkstone but I want to avoid this putting pressure on people to press on before they feel ready. I suggest everyone bring food and drink to keep you going and, as it’s forecast to be colder and showery, plenty of warm kit. There will be more standing around and talking than the usual rides.
You can do the usual start, 9 am at the Pump Rooms or head straight to the Daisy Bank car park just off Leckhampton Hill for 9:30.
See you there.
