Simon Boswell has kindly put together a programme of rides to keep us fit and healthy.over the festive season. Weather permitting, we can look forward to the following rides, all starting as normal from the Pump Rooms at the times listed:
Santa Special – 19th December. Come and join our annual Santa Special ride to the Yew Tree at Chaceley. Come in fancy dress, tinsel etc! Last year the Yew Tree genuinely pushed the boat out to welcome us after their pub was flooded for the second time in 6 weeks. The last year hasn’t got any easier for them – flooded out once more, then two COVID lockdowns – so we would like to be able to take as many members as possible to cheer them up. As always, the main club route will be taking in places with a Christmas theme, as well.
The mountain bikers will also be heading out onto Cleeve Hill for an Intro category ride. Festive clothing and tinsel always look good with a bit of mud on.
Dawn to Dusk Ride – 20th December. Leaving from the Pump Rooms under cover of darkness at 07:45, we are planning a route to Oxford that should mean we return to Cheltenham once the street lights are back on. It won’t be a race – just a chance to experience the exhilaration of a long (short) day in the saddle! Please let Simon Boswell know (simon.boswell@icloud.com) if you can make it, so we can plan for numbers.
Festive 500. We are planning a series of 100km rides to keep cycle-happy riders occupied in the week between Christmas and the New Year. These would be great opportunities to invite cycling friends and relatives along: we’ve got routes heading off in all directions during the week, so there will be plenty of choice. All routes will leave the Pump Rooms at 9.00, where we can form into appropriate groups depending on preferred speeds.
Happy riding!
