Road Rides

If you like the idea of a pleasant ride in the countryside with a stop for refreshments and a relaxed chat we have several regular activities for you. The emphasis is on enjoyment with a range of speeds, upwards from 14mph and routes using the best of the local lanes. Regulars range in age from 14 to 70+ and can offer enthusiasm and a wealth of cycling experience to both new and established riders. You are most welcome to come and join us for a couple of trial rides before you apply for club membership.

Saturday 40s

A club classic and a firm club favourite amongst members, the Saturday ~40mile rides start from the Pump Rooms at 9:00am every Saturday morning and feature a range of different routes throughout the picturesque Cotswolds. These rides will ensure you're back in Cheltenham by 12:30 if not earlier.

Each week, the rides alternate between "hilly" and "flat" routes but one thing you can be sure of is that they all feature a cafe stop, usually around the two thirds distance mark, and always for coffee and cake!

To cater for riders of all abilities and fitness levels, different pace groups are available for these rides. The groups are based on average speeds including 14mph, 16mph, 18mph and 20+ mph. Aside from the 20+ rides all other rides operate a strict nobody gets dropped principle with riders regrouping at the top of climbs.

The collection of current Saturday 40 routes are available on Komoot. Click the Komoot link to visit the collection and learn more.

The Saturday Social

Unlike the Saturday 40 rides with their clear speed-based groupings, the emphasis on the social rides is on social interaction and camaraderie together with the obligatory cafe stop for coffee and cake  (of course!).

Sunday Sportive Rides

In the summer months, our Sportive Ride leaves the Pittville Pump Room at 8.30am and will average 18+ mph over around 65 miles with a café stop halfway.

Winter Training Rides

During the winter months (November to March) the sportive ride is replaced with a series of Winter Training Rides, getting progressively longer and hillier throughout the non-racing season, leaving at 09.00 and this time without a café stop - so make sure you bring plenty of food and drink with you.
